Case Review

Original writing · hindsight review · anchored in known history, viewed through chart structure

Geng (庚) Metal is the metal of ore; with Metal at 3 and Fire at 2, fire forges it into a vessel. Looking back on Qianlong's sixty-year reign — expanding the frontiers and compiling the Siku Quanshu — Metal and Fire working together yield civil and military achievement; the Direct Officer in the month pillar signifies preserving the inheritance and its institutions, and the peak of the “Kang–Qian golden age” reflects this structure.

The Rob Wealth in the year pillar also points to a love of grandeur: his boast of “Ten Perfect Military Campaigns” and his late favour toward Heshen, which corrupted the administration, can be observed in hindsight from the angle of Rob Wealth.

This is a cultural retrospective at the level of three pillars, not a fatalistic judgment.
