The Major Arcana: the Fool's journey

The 22 Major cards are often read as one journey: the Fool sets out, meets teachers, love, trials, loss and awakening, and finally reaches the World.

Three stretches

Cards 0–7 are like learning the world (Magician, High Priestess, Emperor…), 8–14 turn inward (Strength, Hermit, Death, Temperance), and 15–21 pass through darkness toward light (Devil, Tower, Star, Sun, World).

When Majors appear

The more Major cards in a reading, the more the matter touches life's big themes rather than everyday details.

How to remember them

Don't memorise keywords — remember the story: who the Fool is, whom he meets, what he learns. Each card is a stop on the road.

Key points

  • 0 Fool to 21 World is one journey
  • Three stretches: learn the world, face yourself, pass through dark
  • More Majors = deeper themes

Try this

Go through the Majors from 0 to 21 and link them into a single story, one sentence per card.

These lessons treat tarot as a tool for reflection and storytelling, not prediction.
