Court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, King
Each suit has four court cards. They can be someone in your life — or a state you're in yourself.
Four levels of maturity
The Page is the learner and curiosity; the Knight the doer, driven but possibly reckless; the Queen inward maturity and care; the King outward maturity, control and responsibility.
Add the suit
The Queen of Cups is gentle and empathetic, the Knight of Swords blunt and fast, the King of Pentacles steady and practical… The suit says which area, the rank says how mature.
Person or state?
When a court card appears, first ask: who in my life is this like? If no one comes to mind, it's probably describing you right now.
Key points
- Page learns, Knight charges, Queen nurtures, King manages
- Suit sets the area, rank sets the maturity
- Ask who it is — then whether it's you
Try this
From the four Queens, pick the one most like a parent or elder you know, and say why.
These lessons treat tarot as a tool for reflection and storytelling, not prediction.
