- 24 solar terms A new term every 15° of the Sun's path. The Spring Equinox sits exactly at 0° Aries.
- The twelve signs Colored by element: fire, earth, air, water. The gold marker is the Sun's real position right now.
- 28 lunar mansions Spaced by their classical widths, in the colors of the Azure Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger and Vermilion Bird.
- Chinese zodiac Turns the other way. Gold marks this year's animal; cyan marks the current double hour.
- Planets and trigrams The Sun, Moon and planets sit at their real longitudes in Five Element colors. ℞ marks retrograde. Lines light up for conjunctions, oppositions, trines, squares and sextiles. A taiji turns at the center.
The Sun, Moon and five classical planets are placed at their real positions for the current time (accurate to about 1°). The spinning of the outer rings is decorative.
